Meet the Team

Susan Alanis joins UNT System as the Deputy Chancellor for Finance and Operations as of October 2023. As deputy chancellor, Ms. Alanis is responsible for the daily operations of human resources, strategic infrastructure, and finance.

Ms. Alanis comes to UNT System from Tarrant County College, where she worked as Chief Operation Officer for four years. Before joining Tarrant County College, Ms. Alanis worked for the City of Fort Worth for over 20 years, with high level responsibility as an assistant city manager for nine years.

She has a long history in Fort Worth and Tarrant County leading bond programs, public finance and budgeting, technology upgrades, workforce management, and important community projects such as Dickies Arena.

Ms. Alanis holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Texas State University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Maleia Torres is responsible for all aspects of treasury including banking, management of cash and investments, long-term debt planning and forecasting for the University of North Texas System. Prior to joining UNT System in 2022, she worked at Texas Tech University System for over 14 years, most recently in the role of Senior Director & Treasurer.  Aside from Texas public higher education, she worked as a staff accountant at a bank in the Lubbock, TX area.  Maleia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio and is a Certified Treasury Professional since 2014.

Gulnaar Murthy joined University of North Texas System in 2015 as a Treasury Analyst.  In her current role as Director for Treasury, Gulnaar is responsible for the day to day management of the team, the System’s commercial paper programs, short term investments, relationship with banking partners and supporting the Associate Vice Chancellor for Treasury. Prior to joining UNT System, she has worked for Fidelity Investments, JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of New York Mellon. Gulnaar holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Economics from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a Certified Treasury Professional.

Aprille Lim has been working for University of North Texas System since 2018.  Aprille assists the Associate Vice Chancellor in optimizing cash and investments and monitoring the performance of the debt programs related to the System's short-term and long-term financing. Aprille also assists in special projects and serves as support to the team. Aprille is an alum of Arizona State University and holds both a Bachelor and Master of Science in Finance.

Jennifer Sevilla joined University of North Texas System in 2021 as a Treasury Analyst.  Jennifer is responsible for the day-to-day cash activities of the department, assisting in the System’s commercial paper programs, short-term investments, relationship with banking partners and supporting the Director for Treasury. Prior to joining UNT System, she was an intern for the Treasury department for the University of North Texas System. Jennifer is an alumna of UNT and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.
