Meet the Team

Before joining UNT System in 2022, Mr. Anderson served as Executive Vice President for Finance and Operations at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. During his tenure, he led UNT Health to new heights by advancing inclusive budgeting, enhancing long-term planning, and launching performance-based compensation.

Most notably, Mr. Anderson’s leadership transformed UNT Health’s investments portfolio, tripling the strength of both its reserves and endowments. These strategic initiatives not only reinforced financial sustainability but also ensured students could continue their education without the burden of rising tuition.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Anderson served for more than 27 years as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for The Texas A&M University System where he oversaw system-wide accounting and reporting for financial operations, including the budgeting process. Additionally, he directed tax activities and fiscal functions that directly related to the legislative appropriations process.

Maleia Torres is responsible for all aspects of treasury including banking, management of cash and investments, long-term debt planning and forecasting for the University of North Texas System. Prior to joining UNT System in 2022, she worked at Texas Tech University System for over 14 years, most recently in the role of Senior Director & Treasurer.  Aside from Texas public higher education, she worked as a staff accountant at a bank in the Lubbock, TX area.  Maleia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio and is a Certified Treasury Professional since 2014.

Gulnaar Murthy, is Director for Treasury at the University of North Texas System, where she leads treasury operations, cash management, banking relationships, merchant services, and short-term investments. Since joining UNT System in 2015, she has led treasury modernization initiatives, including banking structure optimization, cash forecasting enhancements, and process improvements that strengthen financial operations across the System. Known for her collaborative leadership style, Gulnaar partners with campus stakeholders, banking partners, and colleagues to solve problems, improve processes, and advance strategic priorities while supporting team development and knowledge sharing. She also established a System Treasury Internship program, helping students gain real-world treasury experience. Prior to UNT System, she worked with Fidelity Investments, JPMorgan Chase, and BNY Mellon. She holds a BBA in Economics from The University of Texas at Arlington and is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).

Aprille Lim has been working for University of North Texas System since 2018.  Aprille assists the Associate Vice Chancellor in monitoring the performance of the debt programs related to the System’s short-term and long-term financing. Aprille also assists in special projects and serves as support to the team. Aprille is an alum of Arizona State University, holds both a Bachelor and Master of Science in Finance, and is a Certified Treasury Professional.

Harley Scurrah joined the University of North Texas in 2022 as a staff member in the University Libraries and later University Budget Office, most recently as Senior Budget Analyst, before transferring to UNT System Treasury in Fall of 2026. Harley assists with the day-to-day cash activities of the department, cash forecasting, financial reporting, the System’s commercial paper programs, short-term investments, relationships with banking partners, and supports the Director for Treasury and Associate Vice Chancellor. Harley is a UNT alumnus and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial Services.
